Speakers thump when hooked to an amp(4-channel).?
When I connect the RCA cables to my amp, the speakers have a loud pulsating thump, then my receiver goes into speaker protection mode and shuts off. I currently have the RCA cables disconnected and the speakers work fine. The amp is wired correctly with the wires routed nicely. I am getting full power to the amp, blue light stays on until my receiver shuts off.
I am wondering if I have a ground loop. I don't know my car's chassis very well and I could have the amp bolted on the same piece of metal as the ground. I was wondering if this is possibly the problem. I have only tried the back speakers so far. I have tried two sets of RCA cables, so I have ruled out bad cables and they are ran over the seats for now so they aren't being interfered with. I am getting no sound out of the speakers other than the rapid pulsating of the speakers. I should note that the gain, frequency, and punch bass are turned to a minimum, but still get a strong thumping when the RCA cables are hooked up.
Technician can help you out. Its a difficult issue to resolve.
