Our boiler is being serviced. Plumber says MUST replace short section of lead pipe on meter. Is he right?
The meter has 1 flexible Stainless Steel pipe and 1 which looks rigid but plumber says is flexible because it is lead and must be replaced at our expense.
He says he did several last week. We wonder if he is touting for business!
unless the lead pipe is in a vunerable position and likely to get knocked due to you using the cupboard for storage then leave it where it is.
the plumber may be reading too much into the gas regs that state only rigid pipework is to be used unless otherwise stated (i.e. gas cooker flex)
so dont write him off as a cowboy just yet - he may just be over zealous and making sure he doesnt miss anything.
better to over classify something with 'at risk' or 'immediatly dangerous' than him to miss something and then someone dies
